El Tatio geysers requires a very early start. Waiting in the freezing cold at 6.30am, at over 4,000m, with steam pouring from the earth, it feels like you are on another planet. At the end of the visit though you can jump into the thermal pool for a dip before heading back to San Pedro de Atacama, seeing llamas, vicuñas and various cacti along the way.
