The Float Festival is celebrated on the full moon night which falls between mid January and mid February and is one of the main festivals celebrated in Madurai. Images of Lord Sundaresa and Goddess Meenakshi are taken from Meenakshi temple and mounted on a huge procession. The festival concept dates back to the 17th century.
