On first impressions as you land it is like an oasis in the desert, shiny buildings and elaborately themed hotels, but yet offering so much more. The helicopter ride over the strip gives you an insight of all that is going on the ground and on a trip of firsts it was also my first time in a helicopter, so even more exciting.

A drive out to Hoover Dam which is an architectural wonder, zip lining in the desert, seats at one of the many Cirque du Soleil shows running, live musical performances, dancing fountains, exploding volcanoes and of course, outlet shopping!

It’s easy to spend a few days here, make sure you book accommodation well in advance, as it does get very busy. Perhaps not for everyone but you should go just once at least there really is nowhere else quite like it.
