Overview

Hardangerfjord is Norway’s third largest fjord and is a vibrant farming and orchard region. If you love gourmet food, be sure to include some farm visits and roadside cafes. Hiking and exploring opportunities here are well worth the time spent; those who are active can consider the day trip to distinctive Trolltunga.

We can adapt this itinerary if you wish to stay at the magnificent Fleischer’s Hotel or the Ullensvang Fjord Hotel in Lofthus. These hotels are wonderful historic hotels and a joy to stay in.

Day 1 – Arrive Bergen and transfer to your hotel

Arrive and self transfer to your hotel. Discover some of Bergen’s many attractions and sights, many of them within walking distance. Recommended sights of interests are the Hanseatic harbour Bryggen, Fløibanen Funicular, Troldhaugen, the Fish and Flower market, Bergen Aquarium and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Open Air Museum).

Day 2 – Travel from Bergen to your romantic hotel in Ulvik

The round trip “Hardangerfjord in a Nutshell” takes you by train from Bergen to Voss and continues by bus to the lovely village of Ulvik. Check into your romantic hotel at Ulvik in a room with views to the fjord.

Be sure to pre-book a hottub and sauna on the deck if you wish.

Day 3 – Explore Ulvik – waterfalls, kayaking & hiking on offer.

Enjoy a relaxing day by the fjord or join an excursion to the Vøringsfossen Waterfall, one of the biggest waterfalls in Norway.

The wetland areas surrounding Ulvik are home to more than 80 types of bird, a great place to visit if you’re a nature lover who likes watching our feathered friends! You can also follow cultural and historical walks along marked paths, enjoy a boat trip on the Hardangerfjord or head off for farm visits to the Uppheim and Syse farms.

Day 4 – Catch a boat to Eidfjord and continue by boat to Norheimsund then Bergen.
