On this short holiday in Finland, glass igloos lets you view the Northern Lights as it dances above you. Spend the days participating in adventurous activities such as husky sledding, reindeer safaris and snowmobiling before bedding down under the Arctic Sky.
Explore the small town of Luosto in Finland & enjoy the enchanting snow covered fell (forests) close by.
Stay in a Finnish glass igloo and a superior room with your own fireplace.
Day 1 – Arrive Luosto and settle into your hotel room with fireplace
Arrive Rovaniemi and bus transfer (approx. 1.5 hours) to Luosto, located about 100 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle.
Luosto is located in the middle of Finnish Lapland and is home to the Santa’s Hotel Aurora. Sit back and enjoy the open fire in the lobby on your arrival.
Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant tonight. Be sure to relax in your private little sauna to warm up this evening before bed.
Day 2 – Husky Sledding & Snowshoeing in Search of the Northern Lights
After breakfast you will have time to explore this small village.
In the afternoon, head off for a wintertime safari with husky teams. After a short transfer by car, we’ll arrive at a husky ranch, where these friendly dogs will bark an enthusiastic welcome to you. Before departing on the 20km dogsledding safari, you will be given instruction on how to control the sleds. Two persons share a sled and there will be an opportunity to change drivers. Enjoy some hot berry juice by an open fire and chat with the head musher about these amazing northern animals once you return to the ranch.
After dinner at the hotel, head out by snowshoes in search of the magical Northern Lights. We will trek through the snowy landscapes and find the best spot to see the lights, hoping that the skies are clear tonight.
Day 3 – Reindeer Sledding & Glass roofed room for Aurora Viewing
After lunch, you will go on a reindeer sleigh ride. Transportation by car to a reindeer farm to try this traditional way of travelling through snowy forests. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee with a bun around a campfire and learn about the life of reindeer herders.
During the afternoon, you will move to a new glass-roofed Arctic View room. These rooms are like Glass Igloos with more comfort. These rooms offer a totally new room experience bringing you closer to the Lappish landscape than any other hotel room or glass igloo before. Get close to the winter polar nights and Aurora Borealis.
Arctic View Glass rooms are equipped with shower, WC, water boiler with coffee and tea, TV, aurora alarm phone, wifi and hair dryer. Rooms can be fitted with one extra bed. All other hotel services as reception, breakfast, lobby bar and restaurant in main building of Santa’s Hotel Aurora are only a few steps away from your Arctic View room.
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4 – Snowmobile Safari to the Wilderness
Come and experience the crisp, frosty winter afternoon by driving through the snow-covered forest by snowmobile! You’ll receive driving instructions and safety rules – and then you are ready for adventure.
