Mountain trekking, waterfalls, fishing, fjord nature safaris and glacier adventures – you name it, you can do it here.
Ask us about Yoga Retreats held during summer as well.
Day 1 – Arrive into Tromsø
Arrive into Tromsø¸ and make your own way to the hotel. Located 400km north of the Arctic Circle at 69˚N, the small town of Tromsø bills itself as Norway’s gateway to the Arctic, and there’s definitely more than a hint of polar atmosphere around town. Surrounded by fjords and mountain peaks that remain snowcapped for much of the year, Tromsø offers polar museums and arctic themed attractions.
Enjoy one of the seafood restaurants on the harbour this evening.
Day 2 – Tromsø City Walk
A guided city walk takes you on a historical and cultural city walk through Tromsø city, including Polar Museum and ending at the Polaria aquarium and environmental centre.
Day 3 – Transfer to Lyngen Lodge
In the morning, we will pick you up in Tromsø for the 2-hour drive to your base in the Alps, Lyngen Lodge, located above a fjord with a striking mountain backdrop. After you have checked in, you can enjoy lunch on the open deck if you wish. Head off beach combing this afternoon or your choice of activities.
This evening, sit back with a glass of wine by the windows before enjoying your gourmet dinner, sourced locally with a seafood focus. Remember that during summer, you will be able to enjoy the midnight sun with sunset late in the evening and rising again around 2-3am.
Days 4 – 5 – Lyngen Lodge
Lyngen Lodge sits in a natural forest clearing above a fjord with a striking mountain backdrop. High in the Arctic Circle, it’s as remote a spot as you could hope to find, in Europe at least. It is a place to enjoy nature, kayaking, beach combing, hiking and glacier exploring. Or you can just laze around with breathtaking views across the fjord and the Alps. And, if you’re there from November to March, you can gasp at the northern lights.
Co-owner Graham Austick, who grew up in the north of England before defecting to St Anton to become a ski instructor and mountain guide, spotted the site when hiking through a nearby forest. He wanted to create a place which complemented rather than offended the nature around it, so he used a traditional Norwegian "lafting" pine timber frame with a thick grass roof, which also insulates the property.
Optional activities on offer:
- Sea safari by boat
- Deepsea Fishing
- Glacier Exploring
- Sea Kayaking
- Reisa River Nationalpark
Day 6 – Return to Tromsø
After breakfast, return transfer to Tromsø and enjoy your last evening in the far north. Consider a spa cruise on the Vulkana, perhaps?
