Songkran is the Thai New Year festival usually in April at the hottest time of the year. The whole of Thailand go wild with water fights, throwing water on each other, using water guns, buckets, hoses- whatever they can get their hands on.
You have to experience it at least once in your lifetime, as it’s the hottest time of the year, getting drenched in water isn’t so bad.. but it can last up to 3 days, so my advice, find a good hotel (preferably linked to a shopping centre), experience it for ½ a day and then hide in your hotel for the rest of the day!
