The Arctic Ocean, the smallest and shallowest of the Earth’s oceans, is rich in marine and bird life, remaining one of the world’s uncharted regions. In winter the pack is more than 10 feet thick, covering a vast expanse of the sea and in summer, huge slabs and icebergs drift, creating large obstacles to even the expedition ships. Encounter roaming polar bears, lounging seals, grazing reindeer and colonies of birds, all co-existing in this desolate and spectacularly beautiful landscape.
