A three day event, the battle is said to have begun as a result of the towns' liberation from the tyrant. The battle dates back to the 19th Century and rose in popularity after WWII. There is a group of people wearing protective gear in wagons that are designated to throw oranges at the crowd who represent the revolting citizens. 500,000kgs of oranges are plummeted every year.
