Over 5 consecutive Saturdays, the Carnivale celebrates a tradition dating back to 1873, when the event started as a mockery of the elected people of the city and young residents presented themselves in the shape of a giant ridiculous doll. These days the event is a giant fiesta of dancing and colour, a symbol of peace, unity and love and includes an amazing parade of giant dolls.
