A trip to Cape Town was always something on my wish list having visited South Africa as a child and then again in my early twenties, never having got as far south as Cape Town. Finally in May, I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful city. There is plenty to do in and around the Cape Town area; I loved our visit to Boulders Beach, near Simonstown, where there is an African Penguin colony, you could spend hours watching these amazing birds and their cute idiosyncrasies. Franschhoek is also a must to visit whilst in Cape Town. About 75 kms outside of the city, this Cape Wine land area is known as the country’s food and wine capital – such a stunning spot. For somewhere truly amazing to stay in Franschhoek you can’t go pass the La Residence, a personal favorite home away from home for the likes of Elton John. While in Cape Town I would recommend a visit to the Iconic Cape Point, the most southwesterly point of Africa. The drive out from Cape Town highlights the stupendous views and beautiful landscapes of the region. Here you can take a short trek up to the Cape Point lighthouse – with stunning views across the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. For a destination that offers stunning scenery, beautiful landscapes, big city vibes, the most amazing food, wines and service – you can’t look past Cape Town.
