Celebrates the miraculous summer snowfall in the 4th century. Legend says that on 4th August in 352 the Madonna appeared in the current Pope's dream, telling him to build a church where he saw fresh snow. The next day, as predicted snow covered the ground in Rome and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore was built. The snow fall is re-enacted each year with white flower petals.
