A prime piece of pageantry and pomp in honour of the Queens Birthday. A military tradition that dates back to the early 18th Century, carried out on Horse Guards by fully operational troops. After the parade the royals head back to Buckingham Palace for a balcony photo and usually there's a fly – past by the Royal Air Force.
What the UK does best pomp and pageantry – you can watch from the Mall or from the edge of St James Park for free – tip is to arrive well before the event begins at 10am to be far enough forward to get a great view.
